Entrants in the contest to win the replacement garage door and opener must be 21 years or older and legal U.S. residents residing in Midland, Saginaw, Bay, Isabella, and Clare counties at the time of entry. Employees and immediate family members of employees of Quality Door, R-W Garage Door Source, Richards-Wilcox Premium Garage Door, LiftMaster, their suppliers, and Midland Daily News and their affiliates are not eligible to enter or win. "Immediate family" includes only spouses, parents, siblings and children. This contest is void where prohibited by law.
Winners will be notified by email. If a winner is unreachable after seven (7) days, or if that winner is unavailable for prize fulfillment, an alternate winner will be selected. If Quality Door and R-W Garage Door Source cannot find an eligible winner for the prize, that prize will not be awarded.
The replacement garage door is limited to a maximum of 8 feet tall and 18 feet wide; appropriate garage door opener provided based on garage door size. Openings with minimal or less than minimal headroom may require dual track low headroom kit available from Quality Door at cost.
Quality Door and R-W Garage Door Source are not responsible for any costs associated with structural changes or issues with lead base paint. No garage doors will be hung with lead paint; the winner will be responsible for that and any cost associated with structural changes.
Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received.
Automated voting of any kind is not allowed. Detection of said automated voting will lead to votes being voided.
Only one registered account per voter. If multiple accounts are detected for a single voter, they will be disabled and votes disqualified.
To enter the Contest, submit a photo (the "Photo") of an ugly garage door from your house of residence during the Contest Period. To submit Photo, visit www.ourmidland.com/contests to accurately complete the entry form and download your Photo (collectively, the entry information and Photo will be referred to as the "Submission"). You must submit a Photo of your own garage door, and no people should be included in the Photo. Photos must be in .jpeg formats and must be of reproduction quality, no smaller than 300 dpi (1200x1200 pixels). Altered or electronically enhanced Photos are not eligible and will not be considered. All Photos submitted must be the original creation of the entrant and cannot have been previously published in any medium or submitted in any other competition. You must be a registered user of www.ourmidland.com/contests in order to be eligible. Registration is free. Registrations must include address of entrant’s residence. Limit one Submission per person and per email address. Subsequent Submissions from the same person or using same e-mail address will be rejected. If any dispute arises concerning the identity of an entrant, the owner of the e-mail account of the registrant shall be deemed the entrant. All entry information in the Submissions (but not the Photo itself) becomes the property of the Sponsor and will not be returned. By submitting a Photo, you hereby grant Sponsor and its parents and affiliates a non-exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable, world-wide, royalty-free license to use the Photo in any manner and any medium related to the Promotion without prior notice or approval. You otherwise will retain all rights to your Photo, and the Sponsor's publication of the Photo will not limit your use and ability to further market the Photo.
During the Voting Period, online users will vote for their favorite Photo. Limit one vote per person per day. Automated voting of any kind is not allowed. Detection of said automated voting will lead to votes being voided. You must be a registered user of www.ourmidland.com/contests in order to vote. The leading five vote recipients will be deemed finalists and be eligible for the Contest Prize. In the event of a tie, the tie-breaker will be determined by random drawing. The Contest winner will be determined by a panel of judges on or about October 30, 2011. Judges will determine Contest winner based on how unattractive and outdated the garage door is in the photo.
Quality Door and R-W Garage Door Source reserve the right to substitute any prize with another prize of equal or greater value.
Contest entrants agree to abide by the terms of these Official Rules and by the decisions of the contest commissioners, which are final on all matters pertaining to the contest.
Entrants further grant the Midland Daily News the right to use and publish their proper name and state online and in print, or any other media, in connection with the Contest.
The Midland Daily News reserves the right to use any and all information related to the Contest, including information on contestants obtained through the contest, for marketing purposes or any other purpose, unless prohibited by law.
The Contest and all of the related pages, contents and code are copyright, UPICKEM, Inc., and/or Midland Daily News. Copying or unauthorized use of any copyrighted materials, trademarks or any other intellectual property without the express written consent of its owner is strictly prohibited.
Each winner, by acceptance of the prize, agrees to release all Sponsors, and their parent and subsidiary companies, their officers, directors, employees, agents, shareholders, affiliates, suppliers, distributors, and advertising agencies from all liability, claims, or actions of any kind whatsoever for injuries, damages, or losses to persons and property which may be sustained in connection with the receipt, ownership, or use of the prize.
UPICKEM and Midland Daily News are not responsible for Internet crashes or slowdowns caused by network congestion, viruses, sabotage, satellite failures, phone line failures, electrical outages, natural disasters or acts of man or God.
All results posted are unofficial until winners respond to e-mail notification.
Each winner is responsible for all federal, state and local taxes and will be required to complete an IRS form W-9. Sponsor reserves the right to withhold prizes until completed form W-9 is received.
This contest is not intended for gambling. If it is determined that a contestant is using the contest for gambling purposes they will be disqualified and reported to authorities.
Midland Daily News reserves the right to change the rules at any time.
